Our Geography Subject Experts provide inspiring, practical learning outside the classroom experiences to support our Geography, Geology and Environmental Science programmes for students at KS3/4/5 and S1-6 in Scottish Schools.

What's Involved
Prior to travel: Our Subject Experts liaise with the key customer (the Teacher leading the tour) to understand their group’s key study topics, which enables them to ensure that all learning outcomes are met through the planned field studies activities.
Whilst on tour: they use knowledge gained from their own Environmental Science, Geology, Geography or other relevant degree and/or teaching experience, and the resources and training provided by ourselves, to teach and guide learning activities at key geographical sites, thus helping all students and teachers to get the most from their trip. All of this is supported by tailored Educational Resources, which help students to successfully collate and analyse data to complete their selected fieldwork activity.
Finally: as a representative of the NST Travel Group travelling with the group they are on hand to support the Group Leader with any logistic support, on tour itinerary amends, and provide general advice and guidance to enable all travelling to experience their perfect tour.

My Experience as a Geography Subject Expert
Claire - Geography Subject Expert
"As a Geography Subject Expert I have the opportunity to not only experience beautiful locations like Iceland; but also to share my passion and enthusiasm for these destinations and their amazing geographical features with different groups of students and teaching professionals.
Although I get great support from the team at NST; being a Subject Expert requires me to be knowledgeable, supportive, and, at times, resourceful; using my initiative to both help students develop knowledge and skills, as well as dealing with the meteorological challenges that these amazing destinations can sometimes throw at us!
Any challenge I have faced is always outweighed by the positive impact my work clearly has on students' understanding and enthusiasm towards this fascinating subject.
It's all part of the exciting journey you get to experience as a Geography Subject Expert ."
